The ovine conceptus releases interferon-τ (IFNT), which prevents upregulation of the endometrial estrogen receptor (ESR1) and, consequently, oxytocin receptor (OXTR), thereby disrupting pulsatile release of prostaglandin F2α (PGF) in response to oxytocin.
