In males, including the ram, testosterone, acting via its primary metabolites oestradiol and dihydrotestosterone (DHT), suppresses circulating LH concentrations. This effect is due primarily, although not totally, to decreased frequency of gonadotrophin-releasing hormone (GnRH) pulses.
